3-24-06 Open Letter to Chris Mathews concerning Jack Abramoff
On last weeks show, you again failed to correct a Republican Talking point… i.e. the LIE that Dems are equally involved with Jack Abramoff.

Contrary to Republican pundits who continue to say that both the Dems and Republicans are involved with the Abramoff indictments…. do notice that not a dime in illegal contributions was directed to any Democrats.

Essentially, the Republican pundits always use the terms “friends, clients, and associates” when they attempt to link Democrats to Abramoff. However, they fail to mention that those “friends, clients, and associates” gave money to Dems BEFORE they hired Abramoff as their lobbyist and absolutely NONE of Abramoff’s influence peddling and illegal activity is linked to the Democratic Party.

This story speaks about how Jack Abramoff directed contributions from Indian tribes to an athletic charity he oversaw, and then funneled those monies into a golf trip to Scotland for prominent Republicans including Rep Bob Ney and Christian Coalition leader Ralph Reed in order to buy influence; as well as George Bush’s senior Procurement Official David Safavian.

By the way, although you most likely didn’t hear this on the news, David Safavian was arrested by the FBI and taken from the white house in handcuffs.

100% of all money funneled and laundered to buy influence was directed by Jack Abramoff to Republicans only.
